Disconnection Complete

Der Finne Tomi Kankainen (Gesang, Gitarre, Bass, Keyboards) ist schon jahrzehntelang auf musikalischen Pfaden unterwegs, etwa bei MORNINGSTAR und HEATHEN HOOF, hat sich aber erst in den letzten Jahren an sein Projekt CONFUSION FIELD gewagt. Gemeinsam mit seinen langjährigen Kameraden, Schlagzeuger Petri Honkonen (MORNINGSTAR, RAUTAKELLO) und Lead-Gitarrist Markus Jämsen (SWALLOW THE SUN, RAUTAKELLO), hat er das Debüt ´Disconnection Complete´ selbst produzieren und veröffentlichen können.

CONFUSION FIELD baden sich auf ihrem Einstand regelrecht in melancholischen Soundlandschaften, ohne jemals die Essenz der Komposition zu vergessen. Raffinierte und sich atmosphärisch ausbreitende elektronische Landschaften und Keyboardwolken umhüllen das Soundbild. So wie es der Zuhörer in etwa von Devin Townsend, OSI und NOSOUND kennt, tritt elektronisches und ambienthaftes mit einer Prise Post Rock zutage.

Die Kompositionen kennen dabei RIVERSIDE und PORCUPINE TREE, aber auch KATATONIA und SOEN. Die Gitarre will allerdings eher selten im Sinne von David Gilmour agieren, während der dunkle Bass für unüberhörbar heftiges Vibrieren sorgt. Über allem thront der wohltuende und songdienliche Gesang, der sich mit den individuellen Kämpfen und Entschlüssen der Kreatur Mensch beschäftigt. Peripher, aber als nette Dreingabe, durchdringt sogar immer wieder und unverkennbar ein Hauch von RUSH diesen wandernden Nebel des Progressive Rock und Metal.

Ein Feuer brennt. CONFUSION FIELD entfachen ein neues. Es könnte eines Tages mächtig werden.

Confusion Field is a progressive rock project from Finland. It was formed in 2017 by a long-time musician and songwriter Tomi Kankainen. Kankainen produced nine songs and recorded them with the help from his friends and old band mates Petri Honkonen (drums) and ex Swallow the Sun member Markus Jämsen (lead guitars).

Confusion Field is a blend of many musical influences from the world of prog, pop and metal. Musically Confusion Field is a mix of old and new, light and heavy, soothing and brooding.

Debut album‘s lyrical theme deals with psychological issues, reflecting the struggles and decisions of an individual in a modern world.

“There is no getting away from the fact that Finnish band Confusion Field are going to be compared with Riverside for their debut album, Disconnection Complete. But the music is undeniably reminiscent of Riverside, so comparisons with that band are surely inevitable. Even the vocals are similar to those of Mariusz Duda. The inflections and accent are different, of course, but the intonation bears a definite resemblance. However, Confusion Field are in no way derivative or unoriginal. They may wear their influences on their sleeves, but they certainly add enough of their own sound to make Disconnection Complete fresh and interesting.
