Desert Tree House is Alpha and Pedro, an instrumental Stoner Rock duo from Freiburg. Alpha electrifies the room with riffs ranging from doom to psychedelic and onward toward more progressive elements. Thanks to the octaver in his setup, his guitar provides just the right amount of deep and throttling sounds that vibrate throughout, making the absence of a bass unnoticeable. By his side is Pedro, complimenting every note with calculated and precise blows on his drumset. Any fan of the Stoner style will thoroughly enjoy their brand of music as they seamlessly connect each passage through a set of groovy and rhythmic pieces that dare the listener to find out that indeed, as Alpha and Pedro had decided from the very start, vocals are not necessary. Check out their debut “Cactus Eater” (2019) and you’ll be convinced. For these two men, it is all about the music, and with Desert Tree House, one is treated to the talents of seasoned musicians that have been playing for decades. Both of them are also active in other projects; Alpha plays in Zim Zum Crash and Pedro is part of the psychedelic-stoner band Deaf Proof. They are also the founding members of the four-piece Doom band Brocken which has been around since 2017. Their thorough and methodic approach to their music helped the two men move quickly from their initial session in April of 2018 right onto the stage in June, and their efforts were quickly rewarded as they soon were opening for bands like Elder from the States, the Great Machine from Israel, the Re-Stoned from Russia, or even one of Germany’s own Stoner stalwarts: Rotor. With this kind of devotion bearing such success in such a short time frame, Desert Tree House shows promise in being on the Stoner Rock scene for a while.
