Classic Rock der gediegenen Art ! 

'Gimme Love', der Einstieg in das vierte Studioalbum der Australier macht deutlich, dass weder die seit dem Vorgänger "III" notwendigen Wechsel hinter dem Drum-Kit irgendwelche Auswirkungen auf den Sound der Band gehabt haben, noch irgendwelche anderen Faktoren. Im Gegenteil, die Formation kredenzt einmal mehr ausschließlich Klänge, die sich unter dem Banner "Classic Rock" zusammenfassen lassen und das auf gediegene Art und Weise und durchwegs hohem Niveau. Dass dabei sämtliche Einflussquellen herauszuhören sind - und mitunter sogar ganz offensichtlich zur Schau gestellt werden, wie etwa im erwähnten Opener - ist demnach nicht verwunderlich, aber auch nicht wirklich verwerflich. Schließlich ist ELECTRIC MARY ja auch nicht die einzige Band, die sich auf LED ZEPPELIN, AC/DC und WHITESNAKE beruft. Weniger häufig dagegen kommt es vor, dass einer Band von ihrem Schlag tatsächlich die Ehre zuteil wird diverse Idole auch bei Konzerten begleiten zu dürfen. Sehr wohl aber diesen Jungs, die bereits Support-Show für David Coverdale und seine Mannschaft, KISS, ALICE COOPER, DEF LEPPARD und DEEP PURPLE absolvieren durften. Durchaus erfolgreich offenbar, denn "Mother" ist nicht nur stilistisch eindeutig zuzuordnen, man merkt der Truppe auch an für jene Scheibe speziell an einprägsamen Refrains und Hooks gearbeitet zu haben. Sprich exakt an jenen Ingredienzien, die einen an sich ganz guten Song in der Live-Situation zu einer Granate werden lassen. Davon sind auf diesem Album – dem definitiv bis dato komplettesten und kompaktesten der Band – aber gleich mehrere enthalten. Neben dem Opener sind diesbezüglich das knackig-lässige 'How Do You Do It', die gelungene, weil kitschfreie Ballade 'Sorry Baby' sowie 'It’s Alright', das durchaus auch auf eine der letzten THE DEAD DAISIES gepasst hätte und der Heavy Blues 'Long Long Day' zu nennen. In letztgenanntem Track liefert Sänger Rusty Brown obendrein seine bislang imposanteste Vokal-Darbietung überhaupt, lässt er doch erkennen, dass er nicht nur als klassischer Rock-Sänger gereift ist, sondern auch emotionsgeladene Töne im Stile eines Könners wie Paul Rodgers wiederzugeben gelernt hat.
