Viel wichtiger als das ist aber wie eingangs konstatiert: Der Prog der Norwegen ist gut. Was wenig wundert, wenn man bedenkt, dass Bandkopf Tr-Ond von den seit 1998 bestehenden, Jazz-affinen PANZERPAPPA stammt (…) Knapp 38 Minuten feinster, skandinavischer Prog-Weirdness - mehr braucht der Proggie nicht, um glücklich zu werden. Da freut man sich schon richtig auf künftige Alben der Band und ist gespannt, was sie hieraus zu machen imstande ist. Darauf ein dreifach donnerndes "Kore Wa!"

Nun erscheint endlich ein weiteres Album der norwegischen Formation. Und das wird nicht nur Fans von Brian Eno, Gentle Giant oder Steve Reich interessieren. Der beeindruckende Stilmix aus catchy Pop und komplexen Progrock ist vielschichtig und einzigartig.

Out of the savage suburbs of Oslo comes the brainchild of Trond Gjellum – drummer from the legendary Norwegian prog rock band Panzerpappa. Suburban Savages are back with their third album, Demagogue Days, and continue to distinguish themselves as a playful ensemble with a willingness to expand the boundaries of pop and rock. The result is unique: The catchy simplicity of pop music mixed with the mind-blowing complexity of progressive rock.

With a direct and to-the-point delivery of power, emotion and groove, Suburban Savages’ music is always entertaining, often hummable, sometimes danceable, and even reluctantly humoristic. Though experimental and eclectic, the music always manages to be pleasant. The extensive use of melodic percussion and flute, beside the classic rock instruments of drums, guitars and bass guitar, contribute to produce a fresh and captivating sound.
