Fish On Friday war immer in der Lage, die schmale Linie zwischen kunstvoller Art-Pop und Progressive Rock zu gehen und hat dadurch eine stetig wachsende Anhängerschaft in beiden Lagern gewonnen. Obwohl jedes Album anders ist, hat die Band ihren eigenen unverkennbaren Sound mit üppigen Gesangsharmonien, die auf nachdenklichen Texten ruhen – in diesem Fall von eher nostalgischer Natur, wie im Titeltrack, der auf das Anschauen alter 8-mm-Heimfilme anspielt.

Dies ist das sechste Album der Band und das lang ersehnte Nachfolgealbum des von Kritikern gefeierten Albums "Black Rain". Die Besetzung besteht aus Nick Beggs (Bass und Gesang), Frank van Bogaert (Keyboards & Gesang), Marty Townsend (Gitarren) und Marcus Weymaere (Schlagzeug) und ist das Ergebnis von drei Jahren Arbeit. Bei den Aufnahmen übernahm Nick Beggs die Rolle des Co-Produzenten zusammen mit Frank Van Bogaert. "8mm" ist eine faszinierende Zusammenarbeit zwischen Freunden und musikalischen Seelenverwandten und stellt ihr bisher bestes Werk dar.

Fish On Friday has always been able to walk their own thin line between well-crafted art pop and progressive rock and have earned a constantly growing following in both camps. Though every album is different, the band has its own distinct sound, with lush vocal harmonies on top of thoughtful lyrics, in this case of a more nostalgic nature, hence the title track’s reference to watching old 8mm home movies.

This, the band’s sixth album and much anticipated follow up to the critically acclaimed ‘Black Rain’, features a line-up of Nick Beggs (bass and vocals), Frank van Bogaert (keyboards & vocals), Marty Townsend (guitars) and Marcus Weymaere (drums) and is the culmination of
three years work. The sessions saw Nick Beggs assume the role of co-producer with Frank Van Bogaert. ‘8mm’ is a fascinating collaboration between friends and kindred musical spirits and is their finest work to date.
