Gegründet 1969 in Bristol, war Stackridge eine der einzigartigsten britischen Bands ihrer Zeit. Mit einem Talent für Melodie, Musikalität und einem feinen Sinn für Humor wurden ihre Konzerte legendär. Die Band trat beim allerersten Glastonbury Festival auf und unterschrieb bald darauf bei MCA Records. Eine Reihe wunderbarer Alben in den 1970er Jahren brachte der Band eine treue Fangemeinde ein, aber nach Besetzungswechseln und der Veröffentlichung des Albums „Mr. Mick“ lösten sie sich auf.

Umso erfreulicher war es, als 1999 das Album „Something for the Weekend“ veröffentlicht wurde. Es folgten sporadische Wiedervereinigungen und ein Mini-Album über die Stackridge-Website, „Lemon“, erschien ebenfalls. Doch 2008 kehrte Stackridge mit einem Meisterwerk zurück, dem hervorragenden Album „A Victory for Common Sense“ (das die Originalmitglieder James Warren, Andy Davis, Mutter Slater und Jim „Crun“ Walter enthielt). Produziert von Chris Hughes, erhielt das Album hervorragende Kritiken.

Stackridge tourte weiter, doch 2015 verließen sowohl Mutter Slater als auch Crun Walter die Band. Am 19. Dezember 2015 gab Stackridge ihr Abschiedskonzert in Bristol (bei dem sie von Gastmusiker Mutter Slater begleitet wurden), das aufgenommen und später als Doppelalbum „The Final Bow“ veröffentlicht wurde.

Diese Sammlung vereint die Alben „Something for the Weekend“, das Mini-Album „Lemon“, „A Victory for Common Sense“ und „The Final Bow: Bristol 2015“. Sie enthält auch zusätzliche Bonustracks wie die Neuaufnahme von 2006 von „Purple Spaceships Over Yatton“, „Seek and You Will Find“ und beide Songs der seltenen „Dummies“ CD-Single.
