Die Krönung von allem, worauf dieses in Chicago ansässige Prog-Rock-Ensemble in seinen 15 Jahren des Bestehens hingearbeitet hat.

Die Band wurde im Herbst 1997 gegründet und hat sich von Einflüssen so vielfältig wie Heavy Metal bis hin zu avantgardistischem Jazz inspirieren lassen. Im Jahr 2007 stieß Leslie Hung, Finalistin der Top 10 von American Idol, zur Band, von vielen mit einer jungen Ann Wilson verglichen.

Im Laufe der Jahre erhielt die Band Lob von zahlreichen Quellen, insbesondere vom verstorbenen John Wetton (King Crimson, UK, Asia). Wetton war so beeindruckt, dass er 2013 gemeinsam mit der Band durch Europa und die USA tourte. Im selben Jahr wurde die Band von PROG-Magazin für einen Breakthrough Artist Award nominiert.

District 97 trat bei einigen der weltweit führenden Prog-Festivals auf, wie dem Cruise To The Edge, Rosfest, Summers End, und unterstützte Marillion beim Marillion Montreal Weekend.

Dieses neue Album zeigt, wie die Band in den Bereichen Komposition, Performance, Arrangement, Produktion und Klang deutlich besser geworden ist.

Die Songs reichen von der rasanten Achterbahnfahrt des Titeltracks bis zur zarten, dynamischen Ballade "Life Cycle" und durchqueren ein breites Spektrum von Themen und musikalischen Einflüssen. Die Lieder erforschen die menschliche Erfahrung: Einheit, Spaltung, Täuschung, Besessenheit, Loslösung, Widerstandsfähigkeit und Transzendenz.

Formed in Autumn 97, the band has drawn upon influences as diverse as heavy metal to avant-grade jazz. In 2007, they were joined by American Idol Top 10 finalist, Leslie Hung – who many have compared to a young Ann Wilson.

Over the years the band have received acclaim from a multitude of sources but particularly the late John Wetton (King Crimson, UK, Asia). So impressed was Wetton that in 2013, he and the band joined forces and toured across Europe and the US. The same year saw the band nominated for a Breakthrough Artist Award by PROG magazine.

District 97 have appeared at some of the world’s leading prog festivals, such as Cruise To The Edge, Rosfest, Summers End as well as supporting Marillion at the Marillion Montreal Weekend.

This new release sees the band significantly upping their game in the areas of composition, performance, arrangement, production and sonics.

Running the gamut from the relentless thrill ride of the title track to the tender, dynamic ballad ‘Life Cycle’, the album traverses a vast array of themes and musical influences. The songs explore the human experience: unity, division, deceit, obsession, detachment, resilience and transcendence.
